Well it's back to reality today and back to work. I had a minor stress-out on Saturday night that we weren't making any progress on getting the things ready for the baby, so my very understanding husband listened to my blabberings over how we need to get the dresser, and whether to get the crib yet which we don't really need, but if we don't get it, how to make sure the crib will match the dresser we pick out, etc., etc. and finally we decided to just get the dresser and worry about the crib later, so he took me to Target, K-Mart, Walmart and various stores yesterday.
Thankfully we found a dresser at Target that we both really like, even if it's not all wood.
It's got a matching bookcase that we haven't decided on yet - that can always come later!
I spent seriously all night last night putting this together, and I am still working on the drawers, but it's almost there. I'll finish it up tonight and then get to work putting all of the clothes away in it. I'm so excited!
We also picked a bunch of other things we were needing for the baby, including some newborn sized diapers, wipes and baby laundry soap, so I'm feeling much better! For now at least, until I come up with the next project. I really do still have a lot left to do and the most important is probably finding a daycare provider and figuring out how much maternity leave I am going to take.
I found out my work's maternity leave policy last week (after my bosses finally decided on one!) and sadly, I was pretty disappointed. They are giving me one week paid off, plus I can take all my vacation for the entire year next year plus carry over the vacation I have left from this year, which even with all of that, will only give me 6 weeks :( They offered to let me take unpaid leave according to the FMLA act as well, but that will have to be very limited, as we can't afford me to not work too long unfortunately.
I think that if I work up until my due date, then I will go back to work mid-March at the latest (most likely March 1st), and put the baby in daycare April 1st. My in-laws are going to be here until March 15th, so they can watch the baby during the day until then. I'm not so sure how I will be able to keep the baby at home with me while I'm trying to work, even if it's just for 2 weeks, but I figure I can figure out some way to make it work in the short-term, especially since my friends keep telling me the baby just sleeps most of the time when they are that little. We'll see, I guess! Decisions, decisions! :)
We woke up to our first snow yesterday and it continued to snow all day and night. We got somewhere between 3-5 inches total I think but a lot of it melted as it sat on the ground.
Last night when we went to bed, the baby was dancing around like crazy, so Beto got to feel even more kicking. I think that has to be my favorite part of pregnancy, really and truly, sharing that with him. It's fun to watch him be so excited and how much he enjoys talking to the baby (even though he'd kill me if he knew I "told" you all that - but he doesn't read my blog ever, so I'm probably safe!)
Well I better get back to work! Have a good Monday!
